Ash Wednesday Worship & Fellowship Meal on Feb. 17

Joyful Harvest will commemorate Ash Wednesday on February 17 with a special worship service marking the beginning of the Lenten season. Worship will be held at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a potluck soup and bread fellowship meal at 6:15.

The theme of Ash Wednesday invites worshipers to acknowledge the reality of sin and mortality leading to confession in recognition of the need for a savior. Worship on Ash Wednesday includes the imposition of ashes: all who desire confession and forgiveness will receive an ash sign of the cross upon his or her forehead with the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The ashes used are made from burning palm leaves from last year’s Palm Sunday worship.

The entire community is invited to participate in this special worship service and members of Joyful Harvest are asked to invite others to experience this moving and meaningful worship.
