Souper Bowl

Feed the hungry through the Souper Bowl of Caring

February 7 is Super Bowl Sunday and while many people plan parties and prepare food and fun activities for the big day, countless others will not even have a bowl of soup to eat.  Instead, their night will likely be spent trying to stay warm, find shelter and get a hot meal. In response to this need, Christians across the United States will demonstrate God's love to those most in need through the Souper Bowl of Caring.

The Souper Bowl of Caring (www.souperbowl.org) is a simple but profound act of caring for the hungry. Members and friends of Joyful Harvest are asked to donate all they can to help feed the hungry in the local community. Sunday School students will be collecting donations in soup pots at the doors following worship on Souper Bowl Sunday and 100% of the collection will be given to the Northern Illinois Helping Hands Food Pantry in Spring Grove.

In 2009, Joyful Harvest raised $2,143.12 and with the Thrivent grant, a total of $3,743.12 was donated to the Food Pantry. Donations by check should be made payable to “Joyful Harvest Church” and note “Souper Bowl of Caring” on the memo line. The Souper Bowl of Caring is an incredible opportunity to witness how God uses the generosity of his people.
